Teppanyaki Chef – Job Description

As a Teppanyaki Chef at VARU by Atmosphere, you will not only prepare and cook exquisite Japanese dishes but also provide an engaging and theatrical dining experience for our guests. Teppanyaki cooking is more than just skillful food preparation—it’s about performance, precision, and passion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and present Teppanyaki dishes with expert precision, creativity, and attention to detail, ensuring the highest quality and authenticity in Japanese cuisine.

  • Showcase exceptional knife skills and cooking techniques, using Teppanyaki grills and other specialized culinary equipment.

  • Train and mentor junior kitchen staff, sharing expertise and ensuring that the team maintains high culinary standards.

Core Attributes & Qualifications

To excel in this role, you should possess:

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience as a Teppanyaki Chef or in a similar high-end Japanese culinary role.
  • In-depth knowledge of Japanese cuisine, Teppanyaki cooking techniques, and food presentation.
  • Exceptional knife skills and proficiency in working with Teppanyaki grills, ensuring smooth and efficient food preparation.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with guests and provide a fun, engaging experience.
  • A professional, friendly, and enthusiastic demeanor, with a passion for creating memorable dining moments.
  • The ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment, ensuring that service runs smoothly during peak dining hours.
