Sous Chef – Job Description
As a Sous Chef at Soneva Jani, you will play a crucial role in managing kitchen operations, ensuring high standards of food preparation, presentation, and guest satisfaction. You will work closely with the Executive Chef and lead a dynamic, multicultural team in one of the most sought-after luxury destinations in the world.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily kitchen operations, ensuring a seamless and efficient workflow.
- Supervise and mentor a diverse team of chefs, fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration.
- Maintain the highest levels of food safety and hygiene, adhering to HACCP regulations and best practices.
- Innovate and develop new menu items, incorporating seasonal ingredients and sustainable sourcing practices.
- Ensure consistency in food presentation, taste, and quality, meeting the high expectations of luxury resort guests.
- Collaborate with other departments to coordinate special dining experiences and private events.
- Manage inventory, monitor stock levels, and control food costs to optimize kitchen efficiency.
- Train and develop kitchen staff, enhancing their skills and professional growth.
- Handle guest interactions, providing personalized service and accommodating special dietary requests.
Candidate Requirements
To excel in this role, candidates should possess the following:
✔ Experience & Expertise
- A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a similar role within a luxury resort, five-star hotel, or fine-dining restaurant.
- Proven ability to lead a professional kitchen team and manage a fast-paced, high-end culinary environment.
✔ Education & Certification
- A degree or diploma in Culinary Arts, Hotel Management, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of international cuisines, fine-dining standards, and contemporary cooking techniques.
✔ Leadership & Team Management
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, mentor, and develop a diverse kitchen team.
- Experience managing multicultural teams, ensuring seamless collaboration and high performance.
✔ Food Safety & Quality Control
- Expertise in food safety management, with a strong understanding of HACCP standards.
- Ability to uphold the highest hygiene and cleanliness standards in a professional kitchen environment.
✔ Guest-Centric Approach
- Passion for delivering exceptional guest experiences, with a deep understanding of hospitality and luxury service.
