About the Role: Gardener (Engineering & Maintenance Department)
As a Gardener at Velassaru Maldives, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the lush, tropical landscapes that make our resort a paradise on earth. The Engineering & Maintenance Department ensures that every corner of the resort remains beautiful and well-kept, providing a serene and picturesque environment for our guests.

Key Responsibilities
As a Gardener, your duties will include:
✅ Maintaining the Resort’s Landscape
- Ensure that all gardens, lawns, and outdoor spaces are well-maintained and visually appealing.
- Regularly water, prune, trim, and fertilize plants, trees, and flowers to keep them in perfect condition.
- Remove weeds, pests, and other potential hazards to maintain a healthy environment.
✅ Sustainable Gardening Practices
- Support and implement eco-friendly gardening methods to enhance sustainability at the resort.
- Participate in composting and waste reduction initiatives to align with Velassaru’s environmental commitment.
✅ Stock & Equipment Management
- Maintain an adequate stock of gardening materials, tools, and equipment.
- Ensure that all gardening supplies are properly stored and requisitions are made in a timely manner.
✅ Resort Cleanliness & Aesthetics
- Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and organization in all green areas of the resort.
- Assist in maintaining pathways, outdoor seating areas, and other garden features to enhance the overall guest experience.
✅ General Maintenance Support
- Assist the Engineering & Maintenance Team with minor maintenance tasks when required.
- Work closely with other departments to ensure the landscape remains aligned with the resort’s aesthetics.
✅ Additional Duties
- Carry out any other responsibilities assigned by the Manager or Supervisor to support resort operations.
Candidate Requirements & Qualifications
We are looking for a dedicated and skilled Gardener who meets the following criteria:
✔ Minimum 1 Year of Experience – Prior experience in a similar position within a five-star resort or hospitality setting is required.
✔ Hardworking & Positive Attitude – A strong work ethic and a pleasant personality are essential.
✔ Excellent Communication Skills – Ability to speak and understand English fluently (both verbal and written) to collaborate effectively with team members.
✔ Ability to Work Under Pressure – Must be able to handle extended hours and challenging weather conditions when necessary.
✔ Passion for Gardening & Landscaping – A deep interest in maintaining tropical gardens, ensuring sustainable practices, and enhancing resort aesthetics.
If you have experience in horticulture, landscaping, or environmental conservation, it will be considered an added advantage.
