As a Commis in the Employee Cafeteria, you will play a key role in ensuring that our staff members receive the best in culinary offerings while working in a well-maintained, safe, and hygienic kitchen environment.
Position Overview: Commis (Employee Cafeteria)
The Commis position at Meeru Maldives Resort Island is ideal for those looking to advance their career in hospitality, particularly in kitchen operations. You will work closely with the Demi Chef De Partie and other kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations and the timely preparation of high-quality meals for the employees.
Primary Responsibilities:
As a Commis in the Employee Cafeteria, your main responsibilities will include:
- Supporting Kitchen Operations: Assisting the Demi Chef De Partie with daily kitchen tasks, ensuring that all food preparation areas are ready for service.
- Food Preparation: Helping in the preparation and cooking of meals in accordance with the Employee Cafeteria menu, ensuring that food is prepared to the highest standards.
- Ensuring Kitchen Cleanliness: Maintaining cleanliness in all food preparation areas, ensuring they comply with Food Safety and Health standards. This includes regularly cleaning equipment, utensils, and workspaces.
- Assisting in Food Storage: Assisting in the proper storage of food, ingredients, and kitchen supplies to ensure their quality and prevent wastage.
- Learning and Development: Continuously improving your skills by learning from senior kitchen staff and participating in training sessions.
- Health and Safety Compliance: Adhering to all health and safety regulations, including the proper use of kitchen equipment and utensils.
Candidate Qualifications
To excel in this role, the ideal candidate should have:
- Experience: At least 3 years of previous experience in a similar role, preferably in the following areas: Butchery, Hot Kitchen, Bakery/Pastry.
- Skills & Knowledge: Strong knowledge of food safety and health standards, with the ability to maintain cleanliness and organization in kitchen spaces.
- Training: While not mandatory, First Aid Training and a Health and Kitchen Safety certificate are considered advantages.
- Passion for Cooking: A genuine passion for cooking, a willingness to learn, and the desire to develop a career in the culinary arts.
- Work Ethic: The ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, maintain high standards under pressure, and contribute to the overall success of the kitchen team.
- Teamwork: Strong team player with excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with other staff members to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
