Current Job Vacancy: Junior Sous Chef

Emerald Faarufushi Resort & Spa is currently seeking a Junior Sous Chef to join their dedicated culinary team. As part of a world-class resort known for its exceptional dining experiences, this role offers an opportunity to work with top-notch chefs and contribute to an innovative and exciting food program.

Job Requirements

To be successful in this role, candidates should meet the following criteria:

  • At least 2 years of experience in the same position, preferably within a luxury hospitality setting.
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English, enabling clear communication with both team members and guests.
  • Knowledge of LOA (Luxury Operating Standards) will be an added advantage.
  • The ability to multi-task and work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
  • A positive "can-do" attitude, with the ability to work effectively within a team, supporting colleagues to maintain high standards in all areas of the kitchen.

As a Junior Sous Chef, you will work closely with the Executive Chef and Senior Sous Chefs to create exceptional dining experiences for resort guests. You will be involved in the preparation of innovative menus, ensuring the quality and presentation of all dishes meet the resort’s high standards. You’ll also be responsible for maintaining kitchen hygiene and safety standards, leading by example to inspire the kitchen team.

The Role

As a Junior Sous Chef, your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting with the creation and development of daily menus, offering guests a diverse and delightful culinary experience.
  • Supervising kitchen staff, ensuring smooth operations during shifts and maintaining consistency in food preparation and presentation.
  • Managing food inventory, checking supplies, and ensuring that all necessary ingredients are in stock for the successful operation of the kitchen.
  • Ensuring the kitchen area is clean, safe, and adheres to health and safety regulations.
  • Training and mentoring junior kitchen staff, guiding them in developing their culinary skills and ensuring they follow the resort's standards.
  • Collaborating with other resort departments, including Food & Beverage and Front Office, to ensure a seamless guest experience.
