Yameen Alleges Corruption: Faisal, Son of Speaker Abdulla Raheem, Buys Land in Malé

Former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has alleged that Minister of Tourism Ibrahim Faisal, the son of Speaker of the People’s Majlis Abdul Raheem Abdulla, has purchased a plot of land in Malé City.

Yameen made this assertion during a gathering of his party, the People's National Front (PNF), on Thursday night.

Corruption Allegations

At the event, Yameen criticized the corruption issues permeating the current administration led by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.

He claimed that officials within the incumbent government are acquiring wealth with ease, raising concerns about the integrity of the administration.

Yameen questioned the president's commitment to combat corruption, pointing out that reports regarding unethical behavior by officials, including the wife of Housing Development Corporation (HDC) Managing Director Fazul Rasheed and Parliament Speaker Abdul Raheem, have been widely circulated yet largely ignored by the government.

Growing Public Discontent

Despite the country's deteriorating economic conditions, there have been numerous reports of senior government officials acquiring land and apartments in both Hulhumalé and Malé.

The public has expressed frustration over the apparent indifference of the government and relevant authorities to these significant corruption allegations.
