Maldives to Host Historic World Bodybuilding Championship with 55 Nations

The World Bodybuilding Championship, to be hosted at Addu City's Canareef Resort, will be the largest international sporting event in the history of the Maldives, according to the Bodybuilding Association's President, Ibrahim Hameed.

Scheduled to take place from the 5th to the 11th of November, the event will welcome athletes and officials from 55 countries. The Bodybuilding Association estimates that the total contingent will exceed 500 participants.

Speaking at the launch ceremony held at the VIP Hall of the National Football Stadium, Hameed expressed the significance of this event for the Maldives. "This is a day that will be written in gold, in the history pages of the Maldives," he said. Hameed, who also serves as the Vice President of the World Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Federation (WBPF), emphasized the historic nature of this competition.

Hameed also noted that the championship would play a significant role in promoting the country's tourism, adding another dimension to the importance of the event.

Previously, the Maldives successfully hosted the 2022 Asian Bodybuilding Championship, which took place in Kaafu atoll Maafushi and at the Crossroads Maldives. Paul Chua, the President of both the Asian Bodybuilding Federation and the WBPF, praised the Maldives' organization of that event, calling it one of the best-organized Asian Championships he had witnessed.
