In a recent social media announcement, the company reaffirmed its commitment to providing a sustainable electricity supply capable of meeting the increasing demand in the city. A significant enhancement has been made to the substation located at the junction of Majeedhee Magu and Sosun Magu, where the existing 630 KVA transformer has been replaced with a new 1,500 KVA transformer.
STELCO stated, “There are more plans in place to boost the capacity of the distribution network to meet the electricity demand in the city.”
Additionally, STELCO has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with China's TBEA Group Co. Ltd. This agreement focuses on establishing a 150MW powerhouse in Gulhifalhu and conducting a feasibility study for a high-capacity transmission line linking Male’, Villimale’, and Gulhifalhu.
