PPM Appoints Khaleel as Deputy Leader, Haleem as Secretary General

The Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) has appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Khaleel as the party's Deputy President. The decision was made during a senate meeting held today after a prolonged hiatus. The ruling People's National Congress (PNC), PPM’s coalition partner, confirmed that Khaleel's appointment was made unanimously by those in attendance.

In addition to Khaleel’s appointment, Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital CEO Ibrahim Abdul Razzaq was named PPM's Secretary General.

The meeting occurred amidst rumors on social media suggesting that PPM might be dissolved. An official from the PNC denied these claims, asserting that no such discussions had taken place.

Currently, PPM's other Deputy Presidents include Fisheries Minister Ahmed Shiyam and Defence Minister Mohamed Ghassan Maumoon. Following the transition to the new administration, many PPM leaders shifted to the PNC.
