Ihavandhippolhu Welcomes Panama Oil Tanker for Crew Change and Maintenance

A Panama-flagged oil tanker, Jian Jie, has docked at Ihavandhippolhu this morning to access services provided by the Uthuru Maritime Service (UMS).

This marks the second boat to arrive since UMS introduced bunkering services on September 18 and the first to specifically seek UMS services.

Services Provided to Jian Jie

Jian Jie, which operates between Abu Dhabi and China, requested multiple services, including crew change, clean water supply, pilotage, food supplies, and spare parts.

The vessel will remain at Ihavandhippolhu for five days to complete these requirements, including necessary maintenance.

Crew Change and Seaman's Rest Area

Maldives Ports Limited (MPL), which oversees operations at UMS, stated that crew members from the ship were transferred to Haa Alif Uligan earlier today to participate in the inauguration of the new Seaman's Rest Area.

The ceremony, attended by MPL Managing Director Mohamed Wajeeh Ibrahim, Hoarafushi MP Ali Moosa, and Uligan Council President Ahmed Muaz Mohamed, also marked the establishment of the International Ship and Port Security (IPS) Gate Facility in Uligan.

The Seaman's Rest Area offers a dedicated space for the crew to rest and enjoy recreational facilities while docked.

Crew Transfers and Additional Services

Nine crew members from the Jian Jie will be transported to Velana International Airport to board outbound flights, while six replacement crew members have already arrived in Uligan.

In addition to MPL, various private businesses are providing services to the tanker during its stay.
