President Muizzu and First Lady Sajidha Receive Ceremonial Welcome in India

This morning, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu and First Lady Sajidha Mohamed were officially welcomed by the Government of India as part of their ongoing State visit.

Welcoming Ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan

The formal ceremony took place at Rashtrapati Bhavan, the Presidential Palace in New Delhi. Indian President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted the Maldivian President and First Lady with full honors. A 21-gun salute was fired in recognition of President Muizzu, who later inspected the Guard of Honour.

Tribute to Mahatma Gandhi

Following the official welcome, President Muizzu, accompanied by First Lady Sajidha, visited Raj Ghat, where they paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi.

High-Level Meetings and Delegation

President Muizzu and the high-level Maldivian delegation arrived in India yesterday. Shortly after their arrival, President Muizzu held a meeting with India's Minister of External Affairs, Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar.

Upcoming Engagements

The State visit will continue until Thursday. During the visit, President Muizzu is scheduled to visit Mumbai, Agra, and Bangalore for further official meetings in various sectors, including trade.
