Maldives Islamic Bank to Host Yearly Guesthouse Symposium to Boost Local Tourism

Maldives Islamic Bank (MIB) announced today that its guesthouse symposium, currently being held at Crossroads Maldives, will become an annual event. The decision came after discussions with tourism industry stakeholders, according to MIB’s Deputy CEO, Ahmed Riza, who revealed the news during the event’s opening ceremony.

“This is not just our decision. It was made after thorough consultations with guesthouses,” Riza stated.

The symposium, which has been well-received by the industry, saw over 75 participants in attendance. Many attendees reported gaining valuable insights and fresh ideas to help promote local tourism.

The event emphasized the importance of creating a platform for dialogue, allowing guesthouse owners and industry experts to exchange ideas and foster growth. Participants noted that the symposium encouraged further development of local tourism, particularly in exploring cultural tourism opportunities in the Maldives.

In addition to expert discussions, young innovators showcased tools and products designed to help guesthouse operators manage their businesses more efficiently. Service providers catering to the guesthouse sector also presented their offerings during the symposium.

The event featured panel discussions focused on improving guesthouse operations and promoting local tourism. Panelists shared ideas on how to raise service standards and make the most of available platforms, highlighting the growing potential of the guesthouse industry in the Maldives.
