Maldivian Students Abroad Urged to Register with Embassies

Dr. Hala Hameed, Secretary Bilateral at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has urged Maldivian students studying abroad to register at their respective Maldivian embassies.

Meeting with Turkish Scholarship Students

This appeal was made during a meeting held today with students preparing to travel to Turkey to complete their studies under scholarships provided by the Turkish government.

Importance of Embassy Registration

Dr. Hameed emphasized that registering with embassies would facilitate quicker and easier communication, ensuring that students receive timely assistance if they require help from the embassy.

The meeting was organized by the Ministry of Higher Education, Labour and Skills Development, highlighting the importance of maintaining a connection between students and their home country.

Benefits of Embassy Registration

In the past, Maldivian embassies have successfully aided students during natural disasters or other emergencies, sometimes arranging their travel back to Maldives.

However, unregistered students can face difficulties in receiving such assistance.

Turkish Scholarships and Student Departures

The scholarships to Turkey were granted as a result of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's recent visit to the country.

Turkey offers scholarships for Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctoral degrees.

Currently, 14 students have been selected for these scholarships, with 11 already having departed for Turkey to pursue their studies.
