Male' City Council Hiring Veterinarian and Nurses for New Cat Facility

The Male' City Council is actively looking for dedicated veterinary professionals to join their team at a newly established cat care facility in Hulhumale'. With construction nearing completion, the council is preparing to welcome cats into their care starting next month.

The New Cat Facility

The cat facility, spanning 5,000 square feet in the Farukolhufushi area of Hulhumale', has been designed to provide shelter and care for cats in need. This initiative aims to protect these animals from injuries and various diseases, ensuring they have a safe and clean environment to thrive. The Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Welfare has emphasized the importance of this facility in enhancing animal welfare in the region.

Job Opportunities Available

To ensure the facility operates smoothly and provides quality care, the Male' City Council is hiring one veterinarian and two veterinary nurses.

Salary and Benefits

The veterinarian will be paid MVR 35,000, while each veterinary nurse will receive MVR 8,130. Employees will earn a daily service allowance of MVR 100 for each day they work in addition to their base pay. Also, staff members are entitled to overtime compensation, which is equivalent to 35% of their basic salary. 

Responsibilities of the Roles

Veterinarian Duties

The veterinarian will play a crucial role in providing high-quality care to cats at the facility. Key responsibilities include:

  • Veterinary Services: Delivering comprehensive veterinary services to cats requiring assistance.
  • Routine Check-ups and Treatments: Conducting regular check-ups, administering treatments, and performing surgical procedures.
  • Medication Administration: Administering medications, including feeding, injections, and other necessary treatments as directed.
  • Diagnostic Procedures: Collecting blood samples and conducting urine tests, among other diagnostic tasks.
  • Anesthesia Monitoring: Monitoring and maintaining anesthesia during procedures and providing post-surgery care to ensure the well-being of the cats.

Veterinary Nurses Duties

The veterinary nurses will support the veterinarian and are responsible for a wide range of duties, including:

  • Nursing Care: Providing nursing care and clinical assistance to ensure the cats' health and comfort.
  • Emergency Care: Responding to emergency situations involving cats and providing necessary interventions.
  • Educational Outreach: Engaging in communication and educational outreach to promote awareness about animal welfare and care.
  • Infection Control: Implementing infection control protocols to maintain a safe environment for all animals.
