Novelty Book Fair Returns After Four-Year Hiatus, Starts October 10 at Dharubaaruge

The Novelty Bookshop Book Fair is set to make its long-awaited return this Thursday, October 10, after a four-year hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic. This marks the first time the event has been held since 2019, and excitement is building as preparations are now complete.

The fair will take place at Dharubaaruge, showcasing an impressive collection of 25,000 unique titles and a total of 185,000 books. However, due to space limitations at the venue, not all books will be displayed simultaneously. New selections will be introduced daily, ensuring a fresh experience for visitors throughout the event.

In addition to international titles, Novelty’s publishing house will feature 1,000 original works, including Maldivian literature, history, religious books, and children’s activity books. The fair will also offer a variety of stationery, notebooks, diaries, board games, puzzles, and craft items, with discounts ranging from 10 to 50 percent.

Visitors can look forward to a lucky draw for every MVR 100 spent, with the chance to win the grand prize of MVR 200,000.

The fair will run from October 10 to October 26, with opening hours from 14:00 to 00:00 daily, except on Fridays when it will open at 14:30. Books will be displayed at Rannabandeyri Maalam, while other items will be available at Billoori Maalam.

This year's book fair promises to be a literary celebration, bringing together readers of all ages and interests in a long-awaited event.
