Maldives Welcomes 1.5 Million Tourists in 2024, Aiming for 2 Million by Year-End

Tourist arrivals to the Maldives have reached 1.5 million so far this year, according to the latest statistics shared by the Ministry of Tourism. On average, 5,500 tourists are arriving daily, with the total expected to grow by 10 percent by the end of 2024.

The Maldives achieved the milestone of 1.5 million tourist arrivals by the end of October, and the government is aiming to reach a total of 2 million by year’s end.

Currently, China leads as the top source of tourists, with 228,000 Chinese visitors having traveled to the Maldives this year. Russia follows closely with 166,000 arrivals, while the UK takes third place with 128,000 visitors. Germany ranks fourth with 110,000 tourists, and Italy rounds out the top five with 107,000 arrivals.

This surge in tourism reflects the Maldives' continued popularity as a global destination, with strong contributions from these key markets.
