Aviation Sector Key to National Development, Says Minister Ameen

Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation, Mohamed Ameen, has reaffirmed the government's focus on the development of the Maldives' aviation sector, highlighting President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's commitment to this priority.

Speaking at the first-anniversary celebration of Maldives' premium airline, Beond, Minister Ameen emphasized the government’s support for airlines like Beond in expanding their services and contributing to the nation's aviation growth.

"I expect Beond to play a significant role in the development of the Maldives' aviation sector and in positioning the country as an aviation hub. The government will provide all necessary support for the airline’s growth," Ameen stated.

He emphasized the importance of Beond to the Maldives' reputation as a top premium tourism destination. The minister noted that the airline’s association with the Maldives brand could help expand tourism and attract more visitors.

Minister Ameen assured that the government would continue to protect foreign investments like Beond under the Foreign Direct Investment Act, signalling strong support for the airline’s growth and operations.

Launched by the SIMDI Group in partnership with the UAE’s Arabesque, Beond began operations with an Airbus A13. The airline’s second aircraft, an Airbus A321 with 68 seats, was added to its fleet during the ceremony.

Currently, Beond serves five international destinations.

This month marks the first anniversary of 'Beond,' the world's first-ever premium leisure airline, which continues to uphold its unique title. Launched by a joint venture between Maldives' SIMDI Group and UAE's Arabesque, Beond is dedicated to delivering a luxurious, business-class-only flying experience.
