Bank of Maldives Introduces Waste Management Grant Project

The Bank of Maldives (BML) has announced the launch of a new initiative aimed at improving waste management across the country by inviting proposals for resource sourcing.

Project Overview

The Waste Management Grant Project seeks to support efforts in creating sustainable waste management facilities within communities. BML plans to provide funding to enhance existing waste management practices, ultimately fostering a cleaner environment.

Aishath Nooradeen, BML's Deputy CEO and In-charge of the Bank, emphasized that the project aligns with the bank's commitment to promoting sustainable environmental practices.

Eligibility Criteria

Who Can Apply?

  • Local Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs)
  • Community-Based Organizations (CBOs)

Who is NOT Eligible?

  • Individuals
  • Government bodies
  • Business entities that are State-funded
  • BML employees and their immediate family members

How to Apply

  1. Download the Waste Management Grant Project form from BML's website (link can be added here).
  2. Submit the completed form along with the following documents to community@bml.com.mv by October 21, 2024, at 4:00 PM:
    • Registration Certificate of your Organization
    • Stakeholder approval letter (e.g., council, WDC, or other institutions), if applicable.

Evaluation Criteria

Proposals will be assessed by a panel selected by Bank of Maldives, with the final decision resting with the panel. The evaluation will consider the following criteria:

  • Proposed method / Equipment: 25%
  • Sustainability: 35%
  • Benefit to the Community: 15%
  • Infrastructure / Resources: 15%
  • Timeline: 10%
