Kings Capitals Case: Fahumy Brothers Request Review of Scam Charges

Alhan Fahumy and his two brothers, Shazbaan and Shahubaan Fahumy, have opted to request a review of the charges filed against them by the Prosecutor General’s Office.

State's Charges and Defense Request

The State has brought forth a total of 13 scam charges against the Fahumy brothers. During today’s trial hearing, their defense counsel expressed the intention to utilize the opportunity provided by the Prosecutor General's Office for the public to request a review of criminal charges.

In light of this, the defense requested an adjournment of the trial until the Prosecutor General's Office reaches a decision.

Judge's Ruling and Azima Shakoor's Involvement

However, Judge Ismail Shafiu ruled that the trial will proceed until the State opts to withdraw the charges, denying the request for postponement.

The judge also noted that former Attorney General Azima Shakoor had submitted a form to join the defense team, but her request could not be accepted due to the absence of her signature.

The judge clarified that Azima could still join the defense team upon resubmitting a complete form.

Adjournment and Alhan's Absence

As the defense team indicated their reluctance to continue without Azima's presence, Judge Shafiu adjourned today's proceedings, rescheduling the hearing for the following Sunday.

The judge mandated that Alhan and his brothers would be required to enter a plea in response to the charges against them.

Alhan was not present at the hearing due to a medical issue, which he communicated to the court. However, the defense was reminded that a medical form would be necessary as per procedural requirements.

Background on Kings Capitals

Initially, Kings Capitals had all their accounts seized by the bank, but a Civil Court ruling declared the seizure unlawful.
