Police Investigate Hacking of Lhaviyani Atoll Hospital Server

Police have launched an investigation into a hacking incident targeting the server of Lhaviyani Atoll Hospital, located in Naifaru. A special cybercrime investigation team from Male' has been deployed to the island to examine the situation.

The hacking incident, which was reported last Thursday, resulted in the hospital's server being compromised, with the attackers altering stored databases and introducing flaws. The hack caused disruptions in several hospital systems, including the token system and the patient management system, making it difficult for hospital staff to provide services.

Lhaviyani Atoll Hospital's Assistant Director, Abdulla Humaid, confirmed that the server is currently down, but the hospital is continuing its services despite the technical challenges. He noted that the patient management system has now been fully restored and services are back to normal.

Police have not disclosed further details regarding the investigation, and no arrests have been made so far. The investigation is ongoing.

Lhaviyani Atoll Hospital serves not only Naifaru's 5,000 residents but also the population of three other islands in the atoll, totaling approximately 13,000 people.
