Financial Aid to Be Provided for Religious Activities Run by NGOs

Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed has announced that the government will provide financial assistance to non-governmental organizations (NGOs) involved in running religious programs across the Maldives. This announcement was made during the annual meeting of religious and social organizations, which took place at the Islamic Center.

Dr. Shaheem highlighted that the new funding initiative aims to enhance the reach and impact of various religious programs throughout the country. "We are committed to supporting NGOs that are dedicated to spreading Islamic education and religious practices," the Minister said. "This financial aid will be directed towards initiatives such as teaching salat and other smaller yet impactful projects."

The decision to provide this financial support is part of a broader strategy to strengthen Islamic education and encourage collaboration between the Ministry and various religious organizations. By offering financial assistance, the Ministry hopes to facilitate more comprehensive and accessible religious education programs, ultimately benefiting communities nationwide.

The annual meeting, attended by 98 representatives from 70 different organizations, both in-person and online, served as a platform to discuss and reinforce partnerships. The event underscored the Ministry’s commitment to working closely with NGOs to achieve common goals in promoting Islamic values and education.

The formal agreement for this financial assistance is expected to be finalized during the ongoing meeting. Once implemented, this initiative will pave the way for increased support and resources for religious programs, contributing to the broader objective of fostering a more informed and engaged community.

Dr. Shaheem reiterated the Ministry's dedication to this cause, noting that the collaboration between governmental bodies and NGOs is crucial for advancing Islamic education and community welfare. The new funding initiative is anticipated to play a key role in enhancing the quality and reach of religious programs throughout the Maldives.
